BROWSE BLOCK ISLAND REPORTS ↗Birds In The Bay started as a personal project built around two things I really enjoy: fishing and technology.
I'm an avid fisherman who spends a lot of time on the water, and I'm also a bit of a tech and data geek. I wanted one place where I could bring together the information I normally look at when planning a fishing trip and checking fishing conditions — bird activity, fish habitat, wind, tides, currents, water conditions and community reports — and make it easy to see on a map.
What started as something I built for myself has grown into Birds In The Bay, and I'm sharing it with other fishermen who might find it useful.
This is still my hobby. I'm constantly experimenting with it, improving the predictions, adding better data and finding new ways to help fishermen understand what's happening on the water.
The information and predictions aren't a guarantee that you'll catch fish — sometimes the fish have other plans. But hopefully Birds In The Bay gives you a little more information when deciding where and when to fish.
See the Birds. Find the Bait. Find the Fish.
Built by a fisherman, for fishermen.

Birds In The Bay is a fishing-information and community-reporting application. This notice explains the information used by the app and how it is handled.
Birds In The Bay does not continuously track or store your device location. Device location is requested only when you use a feature that requires it. The Me feature uses a one-time device location to position the map and does not create a community report. When you submit a bird report, your current GPS coordinates are attached to that report and may be displayed publicly. Fish reports use the selected Fish Habitat coordinates and do not capture the reporter's device GPS location. Do not submit a bird-report location you do not want shared publicly.
Birds In The Bay uses necessary local browser storage to remember app settings, filter selections and privacy choices. Google Analytics is optional. Analytics storage is disabled by default until you choose Accept Analytics. When accepted, Google Analytics may receive usage events such as app launches, feature and filter use, map-layer interactions, Fish Habitat and prediction views, report actions, subscription actions, install/share actions, and views of About, Privacy, Terms, Data Sources and Community Reporting. As with typical web analytics, Google may also process technical information such as device/browser information and approximate geography derived from the network connection. Birds In The Bay does not send your device GPS coordinates to Google Analytics as a location-history feature. Google advertising storage, ad-user-data and ad-personalization consent are set to denied in this version. You can change your analytics choice at any time with Analytics Settings below, without removing saved spots or private logs. Private log contents, email addresses, messages, precise coordinates and raw search text are not sent as analytics event parameters.
